Coffee-Mate Perfect Mate essay- first class Caribbean vacation

| One grand prize winner will receive a trip for the winner and his/her "mate" to Cayo Espanto, a private island off the coast of Belize. Trip includes round trip first class airfare from nearest international airport to winner's hometown to the San Pedro, Belize, airport, airport transfers to and from Cayo Espanto, 6 nights/7 days accommodations at Casa Estrella, a 2,500 square-foot two-story seafront house with a 360 degree view of the Caribbean, including personal splash pool, private hardwood dock and alfresco showers (one of five villas on the island), three meals per day, along with snacks, prepared by award-winning chefs, use of satellite TV, a personal butler and full service staff, all drinks (excluding alcoholic beverages), and use of sea kayaks, pedal boats and sail boats. Belize tax, guest tax and service charges are included in prize. Package also includes a minimum of one planned activity per day, i.e. scuba diving or snorkeling and one personal service per day, i.e. a massage. Travelers' insurance will be provided for the couple as part of the prize package. Insurance includes trip interruption coverage, reimbursement for lost, stolen or damaged baggage and any necessary emergency medical services. A stipend of $2,000 cash will be provided to the winning couple for miscellaneous charges/activities during the trip. Travel must be completed by 2/1/04. Any entry that exceeds the 250 word limit will automatically be disqualified. At the judges' discretion, entries including unsuitable content or that are in violation of third party rights (including, but not limited to, copyrights) will be immediately disqualified. Judging: Judges will select five finalists from all eligible entries received. Entries will be judged on inspirational value (50 %) and originality (50 %). Finalists will be notified by mail and/or phone on or about 11/25/02 and will be required to submit a photo of themselves with their "perfect mate" by 12/2/02. Finalists (and their mates) also will be required to sign and return a notarized release, allowing Sponsor to post finalists' entries and photos on the Web site. The five finalists' entries and pictures will be featured on www.Coffee-mate.com between 12/16/02 and 1/15/03, during which time consumers will be asked to place a vote for the "perfect mates" they feel most deserve to escape together. I'm not going to submit an entry...I don't think a picture of me and a dog would garner the requisite votes. Even though...when I think of the strategy for winning this one, a quote from As Good as it Gets (with Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt) comes to mind, controversial as it may be Receptionist: How do you write women so well? Melvin Udall: Easy. I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability. Seems to me that Coffee-mate's marketing is slanted towards women, and that the majority of entrants and voters will be women. So...men will have an advantage, if they remember to say what women want to hear. "Hot looking, easy going and rich" just won't cut it- flippant honesty isn't widely appreciated by the Y-chromosome impaired folks! Nicholson's quote above is of course insulting and misogynistic...but I'll bet the winner is someone that takes a cool and calculating look at romance from a woman's point of view, and then artfully panders to it.
